The Blue Cross is an animal welfare charity which exists to foster the bonds of friendship between people and animals, relieve the suffering of animals who have been injured, extend and promote pet-ownership, and add to the quality of human life.

The Blue Cross receives no government funding at all, and is entirely dependent on voluntary donations for its vital work. There is a variety of ways to raise money for them (e.g. stalls at fairs, raffles, jumble sales, sponsored events) please contact:

Established in 1860, the Battersea Dogs Home is one of the UK’s best-known animal charities, and caters for cats as well as dogs. Their main speciality is taking in animals that had owners who couldn’t or wouldn’t look after them and re-housing them in permanent homes with loving owners for the rest of their lives.

Financial support is always welcome, but there are many other ways to help too: donation of blankets to keep the animals warm, holding sponsored events, or just putting a collection box in your workplace. Please get in touch for more information.

The PDSA exists to care for pet animals when they are ill or injured and their owners cannot afford private vets’ fees. Without the PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals) hundreds of thousands of people across Britain would have nowhere to go when their pet is ill or has an accident.

You can help the PDSA by donating your time, your money, or both! Apart from donations, they have a large voluntary staff workforce that always needs more recruits please contact them if you can help.
