Notes: Our lovely thick Beagle boy Seal has been thriving with his foster family. Here is what they say about Seal:
"Seal (aka Steve) is your quintessential couch Hound. Like most Beagles, he loves to be with his people and really appreciates a warm bed or couch. However, unlike most Beagles, he is not too terribly food motivated. That means he has wonderful manners and does not beg in the kitchen or at the table. Seal is housebroken, and even gives subtle clues that he wants out, like standing near-ish the door. He would do well in a house with another mellow dog. He seems to enjoy running and playing in the yard with our 7 year old female Beagle. He tolerates our rambunctious young child well, but Seal would probably appreciate a home with older (or simply calmer) kids. You can tell someone was unkind to Seal in the past and startles at loud noises or sudden movements, but has not been reactive or mean. As he has come out of his shell over the past week, we know Seal is still willing to trust people and be the best family member." Seal has been neutered, chipped, and fully vetted. Contact us and we will get you in touch with his foster mama.Click here for information about the Beagle breed

ONE BY ONEOne by one, they pass by my cageToo old, too worn, too broken, they say Way past his time, he cant run and play They shake their heads and go on their way A little old man, arthritic and sore It seems that I am wanted no more I once had a home, I once had a bed A place that was warm, and where I was fed Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail Who wants a dog so old and so frail? My family decided I didnt belong I got in their way, my attitude wrong Now I sit in this kennel, where day after day The younger ones are chosen and taken away When I had come to the end of my rope You saw my face and again I knew hope You saw past the grey, the legs wobbly with age And felt I deserved life beyond this cage You took me home, gave me food and a bed You gently stroked my poor tired head We snuggle and play, you talk to me low You love me so dearly, and make sure I know Although I have lived most of my life with another You outshine them with a love so much stronger I promise to return all the love I can give To you my dear friend, as long as I live I may be with you for a week, or for years We will share many smiles, and a few tears When the time comes, that God deems I must leave I know you will cry and your heart it will grieve When I arrive at the Bridge all brand new My thoughts and my heart will still be with you And I will brag to all who will hear Of the person who made my last days so dear. |

Do not forget to bring your pets inside when it is too cold outside. IF IT IS TOO COLD FOR YOU, IT IS TOO COLD FOR THEM! The law says: During cold weather, a dog shelter must have a windbreak at its entrance and have bedding material that is sufficient to protect the animal from cold and promote the retention of body heat.
