Fraser Coast Dog Rescue

Fraser Coast Dog Rescue is a group of volunteers dedicated to saving dogs from the local pounds due to be euthanised. We are a non profit group of individual people just wanting to improve and ensure the lives of dogs in our area. Most of these dogs are “Death Row Dogs”. They have no more options. Their previous owners have not come to get them, or they have been abandoned or simply unclaimed dogs that no one wants. We are the last hope they have.

As rescuers we only take the 'rehomable' dogs and bring them into our homes; treating them as our own. We desex, microchip, vaccinate, worm and heartworm test all the dogs before we allow them to be adopted. The dogs remain in our foster carers' homes until a suitable family wants to adopt them and be their 'forever families'. These are very special dogs and our mission is to give them a second chance at life. Please visit our Fostered Dogs page and meet your new best friend.

As our funding comes strictly from the public and our volunteers, we greatly appreciate all donations. We all volunteer our time, love and homes to these special dogs. None of the volunteers are paid and all donations go to cover the cost of the vet work for dogs that require extra medical treatment. We are currently seeking foster carers to share their homes with these special dogs. We ask that our carers be forward thinking people who are able to share their love with the animal while still maintaining enough distance to let the dog go when their forever family comes to get them. This is a hard thing to do and it takes a special person to achieve it. If you are interested in volunteering your home and your heart, please see our criteria here and then contact Annette or Anita to begin this most rewarding process. For more information please contact Annette by e-mail or by phone at (07) 4121 7616. Anita can be contacted by e-mail.

Best Friends Rescue

Best Friends Rescue is a non-profit group dedicated to saving the lives of dogs and cats on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane. Most of these animals have been rescued from Death Row at council pounds while others have been surrendered by owners who for whatever reason can no longer keep the animal. Whilst they are waiting for their perfect and permanent family to come along the animals are placed into foster families. All dogs and cats are vet checked, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and are all on heartworm prevention and microchipped.

We do NOT have a shelter. Our animals are housed with foster families. Click here to see the dogs needing homes at Best Friends Rescue
