Notes+ Meatball, 3-4 years old, 50 pounds, neutered male. Has done well with female dogs and neutered males, NO CATS. Has lived with teenagers. Crate trained, loves the pool.
Needs experienced owner willing to train and bond with him. Needs a child free home, and needs to be the only pet. After every adoption, people are understandable excited for their new best friend to come home, but when adopting a dog, you need understanding, patience, and willingness to respect boundaries. Think like a dog! Meatball is a sweet boy, but he has boundaries that people have crossed, which has lead to a couple of bites. Is he unsafe? No. Is he unpredictable? No. Does he have some quirks? Sure he does but he does have reasonable boundaries that should be respected. In his last potential home he had been there for less than 24 hours, he had an accident and he was forcibly grabbed and his face rubbed in it. Soon after the same person that did that to him was bitten. Meatball is a dog that needs some boundaries set for him, he needs an owner who is confident and who will take a leadership position so that he feels confident that he does not need to defend himself. Instead he has been put in positions where he has felt threatened. After each incident he is confused and scared, he does not want to have to defend himself, but as usual, humans have failed him. Meatball has been evaluated by a professional dog trainer, and he DOES NOT like confrontation. He is intelligent, food motivated, and loves to learn. He just needs someone who will give him time, patience, boundaries, and direction. If you can give Meatball the home he needs, give us a call at 540-921-2053. We can also give you contact information for the trainer that evaluated him.NO FEE
