About Us

What We Do

When Jayne discovered that puppies born in council pounds were being killed because they could not find homes for them she setup Pound Puppy Rescue. Having rescued the puppies she could not leave the hundreds of adult/ancient dogs and cats at the pounds to die just because they did not have a home to go to. Then she found that breeders would kill their rejects so she took those in too.

We do not have a 'rescue centre'. The pets stay in foster homes looked after by our volunteers in the area around Poole, Bournemouth and Weymouth, Dorset, also Andover and Basingstoke, Hampshire, until they find a suitable home. Hundreds of healthy dogs are being killed in Wales and Yorkshire every week for want of a home. I am told that some councils in Wales do not even try to rehome strays - if they are unclaimed after 7 days they are killed!

If you think you can help by fostering a dog or cat, fund raising or just advertising Pound Puppy Rescue in your local shop please phone 01202 623078

We need foster families to provide temporary homes for our cats and kittens, dogs and puppies, preferably around Bournemouth and Poole. We supply everything the animal will need: food, bedding, crate. All you need to supply is love, a nice home and time. If you think you can help please e-mail your location and phone number to

End of Year Thank You Message from Jayne
Thank you all so much for your support and help throughout the year. December is the highest killing month of the year so busy, busy! We have just rescued a van full of dogs. With a number of our foster homes away for the holidays and the new dogs, we need foster homes, preferably in Dorset. If you think you can help please e-mail your location and phone number to

Thank you for all the gifts on our Amazon wish list, the pups loved the chewy bones. A thousand thanks to everyone who turned up for our functions, for making cakes, collecting bric-a-brac, donating raffle prizes, for taking pets to the vet, and giving us money to help us save these pets in need. Also thank you to Richard and the staff at Dylan's dog friendly restaurant at the Courtyard Centre, Lytchett Minster. We could not help so many homeless dogs and cats without the help of all of you. Have a fantastic Christmas.
