The Belmont County Animal Shelter is a county run facility. It houses 50-80 dogs and 50-80 cats. We are kept open with the support and donations of the county. Our goal is to house, treat, and re-home animals in our care. We take in strays and owner surrenders. We investigate humane complaints as well as dogs running at large. In addition to confinement or humane issues we sell dog licenses which helps to also keep the shelter running. To help reduce costs; we have a small surgery room. Our facility has 30 indoor kennels, a receiving/puppy room, an isolation room, a open concept cat room with outdoor access, and a separate cat room for new cats. We also have 10 outdoor kennels. Animals may be applied for in person or via online application. We do not place animals on a first serve basis. Careful consideration is put into an approved application. We happily work with rescues as well as foster to approved individuals. Like a dog or cat but cannot adopt? Sponsor! This will allow the fee to be reduced or eliminated for a potential adopter. Our shelter is virtually no-kill with the exception of very aggressive/unsafe or sick animals upon veterinary recommendation.

PAWS, Cleveland, Ohio Public Animal Welfare Society Cleveland, OH 44124
The Public Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) was founded in 1976. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It is a PAWS policy to adopt animals to responsible homes only in the greater Cleveland area. We provide medical care to rescued animals and foster them in our own homes. We also make sure that they are spayed or neutered so that they do not continue the cycle of births that result in more pets than homes. The advantage of adopting a fostered animal is that we know all about our adoptable pets! They have lived with us and we know their personalities, habits, likes and dislikes. We can help you find the perfect companion for your home and lifestyle! We are a no kill organization (the only time we euthanize is on the advice of a vet in order to end suffering where no hope of recovery exists).

DogWorks, Inc. is an all volunteer, not for profit, 501c3, no kennel, domestic sporting dog group. We rely on volunteer foster homes. Our purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome abandoned, neglected and unwanted sporting dogs of various breeds, pure and mixes. Primarily, (not limited to) our orphaned dogs are pulled from euthanizing shelters and given a new chance at life. Our goal is placement into companion homes well matched for human and dog. The Sporting Dog classified as a sporting breed, hunting dog or gun dog does not necessarily mean 'for hunting only'. Most of the dogs taken into rescue are because they "would not hunt". The sporting breeds are sensitive, intelligent and 'wanting to please' dogs. Given attention, interaction and exercise these dogs make excellent companions for life - no hunting required!

They are all spayed or neutered and brought up-to-date on shots before being placed in their new homes. All dogs are evaluated for temperament and personality. This helps us to place them in homes that are well-suited to their needs and to the needs of their future owners.

The Muskingum County Dog Warden is responsible for answering calls from the general public about dogs running loose or at large in the Muskingum County area. The dog warden picks up the animal and brings it back to the dog pound/kennel. The dog is kept at the pound/kennel for 3 days. If the owner does not claim the dog, then the dog is officially up for adoption. The Muskingum County Dog Warden receives several dogs weekly. Unfortunately, our facility can only hold so many dogs at one time and euthanasia may be the only option left in order to make space for more strays. Many dogs only have a few weeks to live. Our goal, with your help, is to put as many dogs as possible into loving homes or send them to rescue groups.

Mid Ohio Animal Welfare League, Mansfield, Ohio Mid Ohio Animal Welfare League Mansfield, OH 44907
We are a group of animal lovers who have joined together to promote animal welfare concerns in our community. When able, we bring animals into our available foster homes to rehome with their forever family. Spay and neuter education and low-cost clinics are crucial in addressing the overpopulation problem in our shelters and pounds. We believe no animal should spend its life on a chain. Nor should any animal be treated like a commodity, which is why we are against buying that 'cute little doggy in the window' at your local petstore. Please opt to adopt. We do not have a shelter. We operate solely from foster homes. MAWL has to turn away animals in need on a regular basis due to lack of foster homes. Please consider becoming a foster. We provide vet care and food for the animal while in your care. Email us for further information. Check out the MAWL Facebook page for all the latest fundraisers, events and updates!

Another Chance Sanctuary, Clyde, Ohio Another Chance Sanctuary  Clyde OH 43410
Another Chance Sanctuary was established in 2009 by Dr.Laura Hirt, DVM. For many years Dr. Hirt has opened her home and practice to unwanted and disabled animals. Many have found homes however rising costs and a poor economy have forced a record number of pet owners to relinquish their animals. Many others are unable to afford treatments or surgeries for their special needs pets. It is the mission of Another Chance Sanctuary to provide housing and medical care for these animals. Whenever possible we try to place them with families that can permanently provide for their needs but unfortunately we are unable to place all our animals. In such cases we pledge to provide quality care for the remainder of their lives. This is a mission we cannot do on our own. Our success relies on your donations.

Wayne County Humane Society, Inc. provided compassion to the animals entrusted to our care, to measurably reduce companion animal overpopulation and to take a leadership role in educating and promoting humane values. The Wayne County Humane Society is a small non-profit organization that cares for a segment of our community that is often overlooked. Providing quality medical care to our animals and adequate shelter and adoption/rescue services is our charge. These efforts are made possible by the generosity of folks who share our love for animals. We are so grateful for all of our adopters, fosters, volunteers, donors and friends throughout the year. But right now, we need a little extra help. Even a gift as small as $5 can help save lives. Those funds go directly toward giving shelter to an animal who has suffered abuse or neglect; providing quality medical care to the animals entrusted to our care; controlling the animal population by ensuring that all animals leaving the shelter are spayed or neutered and keeping our neighborhoods safe and healthy for both animals and humans. If you are a lover of animals, please consider making a donation today to support our operations.

GSP Care of Ohio Rescue, Inc. is dedicated to helping GSP's in need throughout Ohio, Indiana and northern Kentucky. We will work with shelters, humane organizations, and individual owners to assist with behavior issues, placement, health care, and other decisions and issues regarding GSP's. We take homeless GSP's and foster them in our homes. There is no shelter with set hours. No one gets paid to do this. Unless you count the tail wags and doggy kisses. Our foster homes take in strays, dogs from pounds and shelters. They are a priority over owner-turn-ins. Foster homes evaluate the dog to the best of their ability. They have the dog vetted and spayed/neutered.
